  • Craig Protzel, a Los Angeles, California native, is a creative technologist whose work resides at the intersection of web development, computer science, interaction design, multi-media production and storytelling. His teaching and practice often focus on designing interactive computational spaces for education, exploration and entertainment.
  • He is currently an Assistant Arts Professor at NYU Tisch's Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) as well as the Director of the Global Low Residency Master of Arts in Interactive Media Arts (IMA), a graduate degree jointly owned by NYU Tisch and NYU Shanghai. Prior to this appointment, Craig was an Assistant Professor of Interactive Media (IM) at NYU Abu Dhabi from 2014-2019. He served as the Program Head there from 2016 - 2019 and worked to establish IM as an undergraduate major.
  • Craig's professional experience outside of academia includes working as a producer-editor in the post-production sector of the entertainment industry as well as a creative designer-developer for a range of companies including NYU Langone Medical, O'Reilly Media and Vimeo. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Human Biology from Stanford University in 2001 and a Master's Degree from NYU Tisch's ITP in 2012.
